The Empty Road is a song I composed many years ago. I had some okay demos and even inserted this song into an orchestral piece I that I wrote for the Diablo Valley College Philharmonic Orchestra. I just never had a good recording of this song until now. Mason’s playing on this track is amazing and he really captured the vibe of the piece. Definitely one of the slower songs on the album and very moody.

In the 1980’s I lived in Los Angeles for about 10 years. My relatives lived in Northern California. So I did the drive from Northern California to Southern California quite a lot. If you have ever done that drive the highway that connect the two parts of California together is a straight and fairly boring stretch a road. Many times I would not see anyone on the road for long time. The title and mood came from those solitary drives... even the tempo was derived from the long seemingly forever stretch of road.
