This composition is the second in a series of pieces that explore the many sonic possibilities of the electric guitar. The basic structure of Extensions #2 for Tape is long, short, long. The first section starts with a picked note that is manipulated and stretched in duration. The middle section utilizes many brief sounds from extended playing techniques such as sliding and scratching the guitar strings. These short sounds give the music a lot of motion and quickness. From there the piece evolves into granulated sounds which bridge the last two sections together. The third section ends with the sounds of a fingernail scratching the amplified electric guitar strings.
