Magnetosphere is a sonic immersive experience. Turn off the distractions and relieve yourself of all digital pressures. Allow the sounds to wash over your being and take you to a place of total relaxation and calm.

I’m very interested in process and that moment in time when creation happens. Once I discover a process I try and replicate it with subtle variations. Of the 7 ambient songs on the Magnetosphere release 5 of them, used a similar process for creating the music. The process is loop based but without sounding repetitive. With Magnetosphere I’m very influenced by artists like Loscil and Eliane Radigue. Their use of long sustained tones and subtle changes in timbre are very sonically attractive to my ears.

So with that in mind, my process was to create a loop with my guitar. Once a loop was complete I would fed that loop into 3 different signal paths. Each path ends with another looper. I can then feed those 3 loops into any of the other 2 signal pathways. The result was an ever changing sound based on one loop. Because they were all birthed from the same place there was a continuity and conformity of sound that was appealing. Most of the tracks were done live as it was imperative that these loops feed back into each other. This is a process I will explore further in the future.
