Collections 1993 -1997 - Liner Notes

This is really a ‘Greatest Hits’ type of release. These songs come from my 3 previous releases Opening Remarks, Silent Decay and Embers. I picked these as I believe these songs turned out the best in terms of performance, recording quality and composition strength.

The original release was done through a few cassette labels back in the day and used a few different songs. I think with the many years between me and the music I have a much clearer picture of the stronger songs so I took some songs out and added some other songs.

The new song for this release is Opague, which was never released on any label. This was one of the last guitar centric tunes I wrote before going back to college. As a music composition major, I got into writing atonal music and serialism. Generally I was making music that sounded ugly as Wendy Carlos put it. I had some of those pieces played and performed at New Music concerts and conferences throughout the world, which was a lot of fun. I enjoyed writing this type of music but it definitely took me away from the guitar. My college music compositions are on the release ‘Electro-Acoustic - Volume One.’

In listening to these tracks from Collections, many of them I am very proud of. I’m glad to finally get these uploaded to Bandcamp for all to hear.
